A 26 year Old female with weakness of both the lower limbs

A 26 year old  female with C/O weakness in the lower limbs  2 days back
Hopi : pt asymptotic 3 years back then she had weakness of both limbs and not able to walk which is sudden in onset does not relived on rest. Then she went to  hospital
There she was found to have low k+ levels
There she was advised to take syrp POTKLOR and banana as supplements. Then her symptoms were relived . She stopped the medication when her symptoms were relived.
She had 2 such episodes since 3 years and she took the syrp and her symptoms were relived
She has weakness of the limbs now 2 days back and relieved on medication.

The weakness was not associated with loss of consciousness, slurring of speech, drooping of mouth, seizures, tongue bite or frothing of mouth, difficulty in swallowing.


No complaints of any headache, vomitings, chest pain, palpitations and syncopal attacks. 


No shortness of breath, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, abdominal pain or burning micturition. 


Past illness:
Not a k/c/o DM,HTN,Thyroid,Asthma,epilepsy 

General examination:

Pt is conscious coherent Cooperative 

No pallor,cyanosis,Icterus,Clubbing, edema lymphadenopathy

Patient is conscious,coherent,cooperative 

No pallor,Icterus,Clubbing,Cyanosis Lymphadenopathy,Generalised edema 

Vitals :

Temp : 98.5 F

Bp :110/70

PR:80bpm

RR: 18 cpm

Spo2:98%@RA

Systemic examination:

CVS: s1, s2 heard 

        No murmurs,thrils

Rs: b/l vesicular breath sounds 

No wheeze, crepts were heard 

CNS: 

General nerve examination normal

Motor examination:

Cerebellar sign : negative

Hypokalemia 

Treatment:

Syrp POTKLOR PO/BD

IVF 1 NS 50 ml /HR
